What's the deal with crayfish?

After a well-deserved win over the Attila ladies, and a quick nap, some 30 people gathered at the club house for the ultimate of August parties - the crayfish party! As there were foreign guests present, Helan går had been translated into english and a little course in crayfish-butchering was held (general opinion of this scandinavian phenomenon: good, but not worth the hassle). The usual mistakes were made throughout the evening - like choosing the least tasty snaps (every time!), tapping your foot to Cotton Eye Joe, trying to persuade new girls to play by showing off your bruises and gladly accepting that suspicious-looking shot from a bartender who's desperate to get rid of the most unpopular stuff.

After midnight a big crowd staggered towards town and our regular hangout, where more drinks were consumed (that long walk really makes you thirsty!). When everyone in the room looked good, everything seemed like a smart idea and my high-heeled shoes started to feel uncomfortable, I knew it was time to go home. Myself and Blondie found a cab that was willing to take us home, but not before he'd threatened us with a four thousand kronor bill if any puke found it's way to his seats. As if. My little winger flatmate claimed to be lonely and made me sleep in the sofa bed with her, but when I woke up she was nowhere to be seen - as soon as I fell asleep she tiptoed away to steal my bed! Cunning.

This morning I found my jeans, neatly folded, on a shelf in the kitchen. Ergo: good party.

WRWC - Day 1

Thumbs up for: England v Ireland! Great game where Ireland fought well and deserved at least some points.

Big bosh award: goes to England's Maggie Alphonsi! What a rhino!

Biggest disappointment: having to follow France v Sweden via Twitter instead of on TV. Come on - they aired USA-Kazakhstan!

---

Ladies are playing Attila tomorrow with more than one rookie on the pitch, and with a majority of the girls both snotty and coffing their lungs out. It's anyone's game, really. Also time for someone else than the regular captain and role models to step up and take control - as they are busy elsewhere. Who's it gonna be? You?

Uppsala v. Attila

It was hot, humid and hard to breathe even for the spectators at this weekend's home game against Attila. Uppsala fielded a XV that was missing several regular players, and was in for a challenge.
-
The Stockholmers scored an early try and remained in the lead through the whole game - our home team spent 80 minutes trying to claw their way back in, cheered on by a small crowd of friends and rugby fans. Uppsalas back line had a run at it and center Tim managed to run around and through the defence to score our first five points. Attila played a faster game with good support and offloading, while Uppsalas forwards worked hard to drive the ball up the park. Danne managed to score another try in the first half, but as we were buying ice cream at the time I don't know how it happened.
-
The game was played 4x20 minutes due to the heat, and the rookies on the bench was kept busy with the water bottles. Unfortunately Uppsala suffered some injuries on scrum players, they did their best to rearrange positions but lost stability with experienced guys going off. Our back line (also slightly rearranged) had another go in the second half, a small chip over the defence towards the corner proved successful – chasing winger Julian was fouled and got awarded a penalty try. Fly half Stewart put two kicks through the posts today and the final score was 19-35, an undisputable Attila win. Well done to the rookies, and welcome back Sela!
