It was cold and windy with occational showers on Sunday the 9th of November when OA Saints 2nd XV played Ashford at home in their third game of the season.
The first points came in the first half after a team effort by the forwards who mauled over the line where Sam and Bethan scored a joint try, followed by a great conversion from Nat.
The few spectators then got to see some good rucking from the Saints with quick pick and go balls, and a fair few line out steals from captain Noms. Close to half time Saints defended deep in own territory where Ashford worked hard to put the ball over the line but eventually lost possession. It was a tough game with both teams determined to win, and I don’t think anyone was satisfied with the score at half time.
In the second half Rhino scored under the posts after a scrum pick and go 5 metres from the line, and in the last play of the game flyhalf Nat managed to force her way through and place the ball in the left side corner for a third try.
A lot of injuries on Ashford players resulted in a Saints winger stepping off, playing the last minutes 14 v. 14.
The final score was 17-0 and another win for the Saints 2nd team. Forward of the match was Rhino for her great lines of running and breakthroughs, and back of the match scrumhalf Bethan, stealing numerous balls at breakdowns. Other players mentioned afterwards for good effort was Sam for good throwing and Curly in the back line.

Det var min tur att skriva matchrapporten den här veckan, och efter stor prestationsångest kläckte jag ur mig det här. Man glömmer tid när man spelar, hände det i början, i mitten, i slutet..? Säkert lättare att få en helhetsbild om man tittar på från sidan... Jag gjorde en jättebra match men var för blygsam för att skriva in mig själv i den officiella rapporten - tur att man får skryta lite i sin blogg!
